Station Skylab

A first-person horror game in which you search for a way to escape from Skylab station while being hunted by an unknown creature. You can interact with certain objects and try to evade the monster.

Teamsize and duration: 

This project was made in 10 weeks with 2 developers and 4 artists

Summary: 

"You are an experienced astronaut who has been working for NASA for years. On this particular day, you are being sent to the space station 'Skylab' because they haven't responded to their calls for two months. When you arrived there, it was not as you expected..."

The EnemyFollow mechanic: 

Enemy follow system: The enemy has a Raycast (an invisible line) that tries to detect if the playObj (the player) is in sight and if that is true he starts chasing the player. 

The hard part of making the follow system was definitely making sure the enemy states of patrolling and following didn't get messed up. So the enemy wouldn't get stuck in the space station.

 

I learned how to use Navmesh agents and how to make them follow a specific object  with help of colliders in this case.  

The NoteAppear mechanic: 

This is a mechanic I made for the backstory of the game, Throughout the space station you can find NotePads that give you a part of the backstory of how the space station went abandoned.

​

I used an OnTriggerEnter() to make the note appear on the screen of the player that's playing the game and with different UI panels I made it so the different panels appear based on which notepad you find.

​

The Hard part of this mechanic was figuring out how I could make the note I wanted to appear to appear on the screen when your interacting with the notepad object.
